Mapping of London

My idea for this project is to create a personal map of the Thame's Path.

I will choose a starting point far away from the centre and start walking towards the centre. The idea is to map my personal points of interests along this path, places that give me specific feelings. In addition to this, I will be mapping also communal areas where people gather to spend time together.

I think the result of this map will be quite abstract since it is a personal map that I do while walking, it will have specific meaning to me. However, it has to be clear enough to communicate to others what I found along Thames.

Dystopia

For the StoryBoard competition, my group got inspired by water, we wanted to design this whole new world where the structure is mostly made out of water, for example water walls.
It would be a flexible space with no barriers where you can walk through the walls and even swim to the ceiling. Therefore, the main idea was to create a 360° space, where every single angle would be used.
Unfortunately, we did not win since our story wasn't elaborated enough, we made the mistake of focusing too much on the structure that we lacked of a good story for the movie. Therefore, my group got to work with one of the winning groups and their idea is based on Dystopia.

It is a really nice design idea, there is a lot that can be developed from it. Plus, I like the fact that we are in a bigger group, because I believe more people equals to more creative idea.
In the group each person has different tasks, therefore, we will be all working on separate parts of the project, however all these pieces will eventually come together. I have to design the Tower Pods Exterior and I am quite excited on how this whole project will turn out!

New Journey...

It's been two weeks since Uni started and the journey in becoming an interior designer is revealing to be more challenging and interesting than ever.

I've learned various skills in the past two weeks, from mapping to orthographic drawings; creative and technical skills.

However, the most interesting fact that I've learned is the discovery of the initial process of designing a space. I've never paid attention before to the fact that any space, before becoming real, are drawn out on paper by designers and architects millimeter by millimeter. Everything has a function and purpose.

This is a very simple fact that people might usually ignore, we don't perceive the space in its minimal details, which is a shame because if only we look closely and observe, the space around us has so many amazing details to offer!

Now that I've discovered this, I always walk around looking for interesting and bizarre details of spaces that I've ignored previously.
